SCOTCH TOWN, unhurried while kept within striking distance of the pace, slipped through along the inside to assume command in the stretch and gradually drew clear. DOLL FOOT broke alertly, dropped off the pace, rallied when roused, but was not good enough. DIRECT MISTER forced the pace and held on gamely throughout. ACUITY moved clear soon after the start, dominated the pace, drifted out slightly and weakened. VINITA ED had no mishap. BUZZ A BIT came to the inside in the late stages and lacked a rally. PLUCKY WILLIE, a forward factor under light restraint, vied for the lead entering the stretch, responded to steady pressure through the final sixteenth and steadily drew, clear. BEST CHANCE rushed boldly to assume command on the outside, drew clear and faltered. KERRYTZA, close up and under steadying restraint along the inside, failed to respond when put to a drive; LOST STORY made up ground with a belated rush. BINKY B. showed speed for a quarter mile and weakened. RIVULETTE went evenly. BOUND FAST rallied mildly on the far turn, then was unable to improve position in the late stages. The others were never prominent. FLYING BUSHER moved to the leaders with apparent ease, gained command and loafed. PRINCESS DEV closed with good energy on the extreme outside. EDWARD W., outrun to the final furlong, finished well under stout urging. OTROON weakened after forcing the pace to the final furlong. ANGELS DOLL flattened out. POWDERSMOKE was through early. UP THE RIVER broke alertly, remained in hand until the final quarter mile, assumed command and withstood a sustained stretch drive while drifting out. OLD TOM, forwardly placed from the outset, moved to vie for command in the final furlong and was pressing at the end. JIFFY rushed boldly to enter contention and was challenging stubbornly on the extreme outside. CHARM STEP had no mishap. LONG EATON showed speed to the final turn before weakening. FLYING MILE dropped far off the early pace and was unable to make up appreciable ground in the final stages. The others were outrun. The latter moved between horses on the far turn, challenged the leader and continued on stoutly. REAPING CUP moved into contention after a quarter mile, was forced to lose ground on the extreme outside and. finished with good energy. HELENTAR vied for command in the early stages, was in close quarters entering the stretch and weakened slightly. WAR FINISH lacked early speed. IN THE BOOK passed tiring horses.
