. 4 Mr. Dink After Repeat Score In Endurance Handicap No. 2 Has Mid Century, Our Kite Whom He Beat Last Week At Sportsmans, as Rivals SPORTSMANS PARK, Cicero, 111., May 11. Mr. Dink, a seven-year-old gelding, will attempt to account for the second in the series of three distance specials when he starts in the Endurance Handicap No. 2 at this track Wednesday. Mr. Dink was successful in the first of the series one week ago when he connected as the favorite in a mile and sixteenth affair. He came from last place in a 10-horse field to turn the trick and defeated Mid Century, one of those who will again oppose him, by one and one-half lengths. Mr. Dink is owned by Bryan Wise, of Benton Harbor, Mich., and will be handled by Don Wagner, who had the mount in his prior success. He picks up three pounds to carry 120, the top weight of the race. Aside from Mid Century, who is owned by the Emerald Isle Hotel Stable and will again be ridden by Harold Keene, those to test the prowess of Mr. Dink will be Mrs. j Duncan MacLachlands Our Kite, who was I third in Endurance No. 1 and will again be ridden by Job Jessop, Marion VariBergs j Gumptious making his first start of the meeting; Grace Kosibas Teddys Heir, to I be handled by apprentice Owen Headley; Jack Dillards Equichal, arid Mrs. Francis Glovers Panade, who will have Leslie Wickel in the saddle. Recent Acquisition Gumptious was recently acquired by VanBerg, who is the leading owner-trainer of the meeting. He was purchased from Judith Kaplan last week after having arrived from Florida. Since finishing third back of Mr. Dink and Mid Century, Our Kite won a six-furlong event, turning back such good runners as Daiquari, Look Out Jeep and Whirl Ahead at seven furlongs. Teddys Heir was second to Nickies Boy in a seven-furlong event, while Equichal was third to Hoopdedont and Mels Best at a like distance. Panade was unplaced in ! PHIL G. JOHNSON Sends out Mid Century in Endurance Handicap No. 2 at the Sportsmans Park course today. : Endurance No. 1, but is expected to do better Wednesday. Endurance No. 2 will be at one and one-eighth miles and the purse value has been increased from ,000 to ,500. The third in the series of route contests will be staged next Wednesday, the final day of the spring meeting at this half-mile track and will be at one and three-eighths miles.
