EVAS WAR dropped back slightly on the turn, then responded to punishment in the stretch drive and bested LIBERTY STAR. The latter was a keen factor and weakened. LADY SAILOR was taken to the outside after the start and lost considerable distance. BUZZARDS BAY gave an even effort. GADDY B. was alertly handled to show speed and quit. BROTHER GHOST failed to respond early, but closed determinedly the last three-sixteenths and outfinished EXCISE TAX; The latter was intermittently urged to reach closer contention, steadily improved position, but was not good enough. ASCOT weakened. SUNNYMAN had no excuse. PRINCE NACHTAN was bumped by. SANTA DO at the break, quickly recovered to open an early lead, and quit. The latter lost ground on the outside while being urged forwardlyon the turn and could not get up in the final drive. HI-ROCK broke slowly, came around horses for the drive and finished fast. THE SPANIEL, well ridden and steadied closest to the pace, wore down ABBEZAC to take command on the stretch turn and increased the advantage under intermittent punishment. ABBEZAC, quickly opened a commanding lead, was snugly rated until challenged, then held on under steady pressure to outfinish SKY. COMMAND. The latter was occasionally shaken up in the running, made a mild bid in the early stretch, but bowed to ABBEZAC when he lugged in and had to be steadied near the end. MY GEORGE gradually weakened.
