Gpnnell at Sportsmans Today In Interest of Hazel Park Meet SPORTSMANS PARK, Cicero, 111., May 13. Richard A. Connell, president of the Hazel Park race track at Detroit, Mich., will be here at Sportsmans Park Friday and Saturday in the interests of the Hazel Park meeting which opens July 30 and runs through October 2 for a period of 56 days. While here, Connell will interview horsemen who already have applied for stalls at the meeting and will seek to interest others in the meeting at the five-furlong track. Highly optimistic over prospects for the coming meet, Connell says he is looking forward to another successful meeting at Hazel Park. In 1953 Hazel Parks attendance averaged 12,173 and the mutuel play 88,646 for the 53-day session.
