QUICK TOWN, forwardly placed from; the beginning, forged to the front entering the stretch and, in a long drive, held CHRIS CROSS safe. The latter responded readily when set down for the drive and closed with good energy. GALLANT SPEED showed good speed throughout, but failed to rally sufficiently when the real test came. Won driving; second and third the same. OLD GAME raced in closest pursuit of FANFARE to the stretch, disposed of that one when ready thereafter and retained a safe advantage over RUSH ALONG. The latter was rated back of the early leaders, came fast when roused and closed determinedly in a good effort. FAYFRAN held sway to the stretch under steady rating, but faltered when called upon for the final test. TANTE FLORENCE tired. FRIPPERTY lacked a rally. COME ON, shuffled, back at the start, recovered gamely and made up some ground during the final furlong. REQUESTED RUSH never threatened. NARROW MARGIN quit. SENTIMENT, slow to gain best stride, came fast after being guided to the middle of the track for the drive, and after taking command won going away. QUITE HAPPY slipped through next to the inner rail to reach the lead on the final turn, retained a clear lead at the furlong marker, but faltered when challenged and was no match for the winner. BINSCARTH was unable to improve her position when hard hustled through the late stages. BILL CANE, shuffled back on the near turn, rallied mildly when clear during the drive. HURRY BY was sent into the runner-up position nearing the furlong marker, was unable to seriously endanger the leader during the stretch run, but held on willingly to outgame QUEEN NASRA. The latter showed good speed throughout in a sharp effort. FANF0RD tired when the real test came. BOUGET raced evenly through the late stages without mishap. CLEAR CUT failed to rally when roused. PAPER TIGER saved ground when outrun down the backstretch, continued next the inner rail to take command nearing the furlong marker, and gradually drew clear when fully extended. PRIVACY alternated in pressing and setting the early pace, regained command leaving the final turn, but shortened stride when punished, and was unable to withstand the top one. FULL FLIGHT, always within striking distance, raced evenly through the stretch without mishap. JOHN B. P. tired, as did LIMELIGHT. STRAND was through early. GALDAR trailed throughout.
