Native Dancer Timed Six Furlongs in Handy l:11f Breaks Behind Crash Diye But Passes Him Easily at Eighth Pole BELMONT PARK, Elmont, L. I., N. Y., May 13. Alfred G. Vanderbilts Native Dancer worked six furlongs on the main track this morning in a style that will probably further shrink the prohibitive odds at which he will go postward in Saturdays Metropolitan Mile. Breaking several lengths behind the recent winner Crash Dive, the big gray powerhouse easily passed that one at the eighth pole of his six-furlong prep and went on to cover the distance handily in 1:11. This was two-fifth of a second faster than Native Dancer went in his recent debut, but, of course, he was in full stride when he began this mornings trial. The Dancers fractions were :35, :47, :59Vs, and he was running very strongly as he went the final eighth in :12V5. It was a move well-calculated to discourage any lightweights who might otherwise clutter up the field in Saturdays 0,000 test. Mrs. J. R. H. Thourons Royal Vale, who Continued on Page Nine Native Dancer Timed Six Furlongs in Handy 1:1 If Breaks Behind Crash Dive But Passes Him Easily at Eighth Pole Continued from Page One is expected to be Native Dancers chief rival in the Metropolitan and Suburban handicaps, as he was for Tom Fool last year, indicated his current sharpness as he breezed three furlongs in :35Vs. Llangollen Farms Porterhouse, who was nominated this morning for Saturdays Knickerbocker Handicap, a six-furlong overnight event for three-year-olds and upward, stepped five furlongs in 1:01 this morning. The sophomore, who is pointing primarily for the classic Belmont Stakes at a mile and a half on June 12, .was only asked to run the final furlong of his prep, getting the distance in :11. Arthur Godfreys Lord Willin, who is rapidly becoming one of the largest juveniles of recent years, turned in another in a long series of good works this morning, skipping a handy half in :47. No defi-. nite date, has been set by trainer Morris Dixon for the 8,500 son of Case Ace-Dutch Cut to make his racing bow.
