MID CENTURY was well rated while racing not too far from the pace and, gaining steadily on the outside of OUR KITE after leaving the backstretch, took command on the stretch turn to draw out thereafter. OUR KITE headed the pacemaking TEDDYS HEIR when ready and disposed of him in the final drive, although seemingly no match for the winner. TEDDYS HEIR showed good form in pacemaking and went fairly well to the end. MR. DINK went wide most of the way and failed to threaten. Overweight--Panade, 4 pounds; Eguichall, 3. Knott; bred by W. L. Jones, Jr. IN GATE-5:06. OFF AT 5:06 CENTRAL DAYLIGHT TIME. Start good. Won driving; second and third the same. DAYLIGHT TIME saved ground from the start, and racing close up under rating, got through on the inside of VEZLARK nearing the stretch turn to assume a short advantage, but was unable to draw out and was doing his best to win. VEZLARK was a forward factor early, then made the pace under steady rating and held on well. MARETAZO dropped many lengths out of it in the first half mile and was required to race wide when he came around several horses on the stretch turn but closed fast. SLICK KNIGHT went steadily, although inclined to race a trifle wide. H00PDED0NT was never a serious contender. MERRY MOUNT tired. WRANGLER wenPto the front early and saved as much ground as possible while still remaining in front, saved ground to go gamely to the end and held MENTHAPPY. The latter was also cleverly rated and, closing with good courage, just missed getting up. YUTU was always a good contender and went steadily to the finish. HERMAN L., caught in close quarters after going a quarter, came to the outside on the backstretch to move up again but went went wide in the stretch and had little left for the finish.
