J. MURPHY SPORTSMANS PARK, Cicero, 111., May 13. A five-furlong dash named the Market Wise was the top attraction her? this afternoon, and a crowd of 10,321 witnessed Muscles, a four-year-old son of Spy Song, come through to a clever victory. Muscles raced coupled with Uncle Tom as the Sunny Blue Farm entry, and won by one length from Master Red, with Miss Wabash taking third place. The winners time was :59, which was one-fifth second removed from the track record and the entry paid .60. The weather was pleasant and the track fast, for the 11th program of the spring meeting. Assumes Long Early Lead Miss Wabash, making her second start here this season, set out as if to make a runaway of the affair. Jockey Skoronski sent her into a six-length lead after rounding the first turn. She began to weaken nearing the stretch bend, however, and Muscles moved up gradually. He caught her in the last 50 yards and was then required to withstand a closing charge from Master Red, who was the second choice. Lucky William, the favorite, was badly outrun. Jockey Harold Keene rode Muscles, a Dixiana cast-off who was conditioned by Eual Wyatt, while R. Gergits, another trainer for Sunny Blue Farm, saddled Uncle Tom. The latter bolted to the inside right after the start. It was the first victory in three starts for Muscles at this meeting. The first one to click was Grace Kosibas Flo D. in the opener. Owen Headley, the stables lightweight, was on the filly and he rode her neatlyto withstand a challenge from Falesa in the stretch. Flo D. paid .00. Ormes Town, a six-year-old short distance racer, bested Takare in the second and paid .20, with the Daily Double paying 2.20. Takare had the most early speed, but Ormes Town caught her in the stretch. Demosthenes n. was a lukewarm choice in the third and made good under Tony Skoronskis handling. The three-year-old got to the front when ready and had no trouble clicking over Validity, another well-backed one. Decontrol was the lone outsider to connect in the early contests. At that he paid but 1.40. With Henry Perez, the lad from Phoenix in the irons, Decontrol was easily best, although racing wide. Carols Joy, the favorite here, was unplaced. Resplendent, who returned .20, made it four for the public choices when, with Ronnie Baldwin in the saddle, she took the five-furlong fifth as she chose. Her margin at the end was six lengths. , ,
