j 1 i , i - I ; Muharram Makes Good As Odds-On Favorite - George Wideners Racer Handy Victor Oyer Next Best at Camden By FRED GALIANI GARDEN STATE PARK, Camden, N. J., May 13. Making his second start of the year, George Wideners Muharram, an odds-on choice with the crowd of 17,394, rattled to a two-length victory in the Glassboro Purse here this afternoon. With Sammy Boulmetis completing a consecutive double, the four-year-old son of Mah-moud Vietta came to the finish well in hand before Mrs. A. Mazzeos Next Best. There was a lot of daylight back to the third horse, Castle Rock Farms Rock Em Joe, who was eight lengths behind. Held at 1 to 2 in the betting, Muharram paid and covered the six furlongs over the fast track in 1:12. In his only other outing this season he was fifth in a sprint at Belmont. He was sparingly raced as a three-year-old, the best the gray could do was a third in four starts. Rock Em Joe, a half brother to Uncle Miltie, took the lead soon after the start, running down Wingdinger, while Muharram was rushed up rapidly into second position. Rock Em Joe continued to lead by a slight margin until the middle of the turn, where Muharram went tothe front. The gelding soon opened on Rock Em Joe, while Next Best, who moved into the picture on the turn, took over the futile pursuit. Boulmetis roused the Widener color-bearer intermittently through the stretch, but in the last 70 yards allowed his mount to continue without undue urging. Next Best was exactly that as she was far-ahead of Rock Em Joe. r The Daily Double was worth 4 on the combination of No Case, owned by Alfred Roberts, and H. Christensens One Buck. The former was just 10 cents short of being the favorite, paying .20 for his six-furlong effort in 1:13. One Buck was held in less estemm and returned 4.80 in the mile and a quarter second race, which he negotiated in 2:06. A good thing turned up in the fourth race. Brookfield Farms Inflame, a first-; time starter by Brookfield Imahoney, run-i ning with a ,500 tag, scored an easy triumph, running down the leaders and drawing out tq. win.by four and .a half lengths. .lat-Mr s-c .i ic
