OFF AT 5:03 EASTERN DAYLIGHT TIME. Start good. Won driving; second and third the same. IM IN TROUBLE, never far back, replaced GEOFFREY G. to take command entering the stretch and in a long drive gamely withstood RAFFY. The latter was sent into the runner-up position at the furlong marker, responded to stern punishment during the drive and gradually was wearing down the top one. MERMAN came to the outside for the final test, but was not good enough. AVON LADY rallied too belatedly to become an endangering factor. MIGHTY SON passed tiring horses. JIBE and CROSSLOCK never menaced. PINOSTRES moved up boldly on the inside leaving leaving the turn, then flattened. GEOFFREY G. gave way suddenly after six furlongs. LEA RONDl quit, as did BELLDIVER.
