t cREEN-er HE Downs, ra: director reports everything in readiness for Fridaysinaugural at the Cincinnati race course. ! Capacity Horse Colony Seen for River Downs Expect Many Arrivals From Ascot And Beulah During Next Few Days CINCINNATI, Ohio, June 1. As River Downs prepares to raise the curtain on its 44-day annual meeting, Friday afternoon, thoroughbreds from various racing centers began to pour in and racing secretary Gene Bury today stated there is little doubt as to the stalls being filled to capacity, with others being housed at nearby places and vanning their charges to the track being a necessity for the stables unfortunate enough to obtain stall accommodations at the track. While many of the stables reaching the scene are coming from both Beulah and Ascot Park following the close of those meetings Memorial Day, others are coming in from Kentucky, Maryland, Chicago and other racing points. Even though topflight performers will be conspicuous by their absence during the session, the daily programs will not lack its many thrills from a racing standpoint. Evenly matched fields are certain to bring about exciting finishes. All of the top officials racing director Henry Green, Dan E. Cronin, Walter Ritter and Jack Moore are on the scene and all view the forthcoming meeting with optimism and openly predict a record-shattering meeting in every respect. With 17 handicaps to be decided, highlighted by the running of the 0,000 River Downs Championship, the meeting should get away to a flying start and gain momentum as it progresses. The management announces that eight races will be staged daily, with nine-race program on Saturdays and holidays. Post time has been set for 2:30 p. m. daily.
