Pomace Assigned 125 for Fleming Race Tops Lincoln Week-End Card Peg Sir Mango Two Pounds Under Hasty Houses Double Stake Winner at Meeting LINCOLN FIELDS, Crete, 111., June 1 Hasty House Farms Pomace, winner of four of his five latest starts, including a division of the Crete Handicap on May 22 and the La Salle Handicap last Saturday at this meeting; drew the top impost of 125 pounds when racing secretary I. C. Bogenschutz announced weights today for next Saturdays Edward J. Fleming Memorial Handicap. The distance of the 5,000 Fleming is seven furlongs, an eight of a mile longer than the Crete and La Salle, in which Pomace carried 120 and 123 pounds, respectively, in his two earlier triumphs at this track. Second to the Hasty House ace sprinter in the Fleming assignments is Harry N. Eads Sir Mango, winner of the second division of the Crete Handicap on opening day, who is allotted 123 pounds. Sir Mango was a nominee for the La Salle, but declined the issue in last Saturdays feature. Sir Mango Consistent Sort Sir Mango has won five of his eight starts this year, the latest four in consecutive order, and all rather easily. If he meets Pomace in the Fleming, as expected, it will be the fourth time these two will have met this year. In their earlier encounters Pomace enjoyed the advantage, having beaten the Eads colt by two lengths in a six-furlong overnight handicap at Gulfstream Park on March 27. In that one, the five-year-old Hasty House gelding had 118 pounds on his back against the 119 carried by the four -year-old Sir Mango. In their other two meetings both Pomace and Sir Mango were unplaced in Tidewaters Hialeah Inaugural Handicap and Impasses Palm Beach Handicap, both at Hialeah last March. When Allie Reuben, owner of Hasty House Farm, and his trainer, Harry Trdt-sek, made their subscriptions to the Fleming they nominated five members from their powerful stable. One of these, the Argentine horse, Mister Black, winner of the Ben Ali Handicap at Keeneland, is third in the weight assignments with 118 pounds. However, Mrs. H. J. Damms four-year-bid filly, Arab Actress, actually is level with Sir Mango on the scale with her 117 pounds. She finished a good second to Pomace in the La Salle Handicap. Another Hasty House horse, the six-year-old-gelding Ruhe, is next in line with 116 pounds. Bracketed at 114 pounds each are Bud-dah Stables six-year-old mare, Sunny Dale, Mrs. Herbert Herffs Smackover, and H. C. Freuhauf s Precious Stone. Fred W. Hoopers English-bred Olympic drew 113 pounds. G and G Stables Money Broker and Hasty House Farms Platan have 112 each. In .at 111 pounds are H. G. Bockmans Happy Go Lucky, Mrs. Elizabeth Mucklers Heutel, and Walmac Farms Vagabond King. J. H. Nail and M. B.
