Princess Trace, a five-year-old mare, the get of Princequillo and Bright Trace, from the Mrs. George C. White stable, heads a field of six sprinters slated to meet here Wednesday afternoon in the featured six-furlong Michigan Pharmacists Purse. Under the allowance terms of the mid-week headliner, the White stable mare gets in favorably weighted at 108 pounds and she will have the saddle services of diminutive but capable Lois Cook. Princess Trace, presently in excellent form after being out of action during the winter months, finished second here last Friday to Mrs. Dale Shaffers hard-hitting Roman colt, Fiddle, in the three-quarters mile Fenkell Purse. Inasmuch as she was making her seasonal debut in the Fenkell, it is reasonable to expect that Princess Trace will give an improved performance Wednesday. The G and G Stable will send out the highweight for the Michigan Pharmacists Purse in War Token, 119 pounds. Others expected to go postward are D. H. Wells speedy Black Bantam, 110; Russel B. Walters Fly Lelia, 111; Theodore D. Buhls Bee Lee Tee, 110, and Mrs. Joseph Tom-ilinsons Canadian-owned invader, Blacka-I moor, pegged at 100 pounds, providing the Pavot-sired stallion is ridden by an apprentice reinsman. Major opposition for Princess Trace undoubtedly will be provided by War Token and Black Bantam. The latter was a close third and War Token fourth last week behind Polemos and Mad Hare in a one mile overnight event and both racers are reported sharp by local dockers. Black Bantam was a good class winner of three outings last season while War Token posted a "seven-five-five" record during 1953. Black Bantam also finished second on two occasions this year while War Token defeated a shifty field of performers at Keeneland in April, carrying 120 pounds along in a clever 1:11. Jockey Robert Lee Baird, who handled three victorious mounts Memorial Day, including the winner of the Alger Memorial Handicap, Money Broker, will guide War Token, but no rider had been named late today for Black Bantam. Bee Lee Tee, a seven-year-old gelded son of Roy T. and Spooner, who will be handled by Carroll Bierman, holds an outside chance in the Michigan Pharmacists Purse. The Buhl gelding beat Ambushed, Bolaris and three other speedy performers here May 27, stepping six furlongs in the Mt. Clemens Kiwanis Club Purse in 1:11. He also registered two triumphs in Florida early this year before his shipment north. Chief supporting offerings are the Pon-tiac Lions Club and the Garden City Rotary Club Purse. The former is a three-quarters mile test for three-year-olds while the latter is for "four-year-olds and older to meet at a mile and 70 yards. Members of the Ppntiac and the Garden City civic organizations will be luncheon and afternoon guests of president Dale Shaffer, vice-presidents George Haggarty and Paul Chandler, also general manager Robert Leavitt, of the Michigan Racing Association.
