Todays Belmont Feature Offered on Turf Course Norhirdchance Tops Nine Going Mile and Three Furlongs Route BELMONT PARK, Elmont, L. I., N. Y., June 1. The Go Between Handicap, a 0,000 test at a mile and three furlongs over the grass course, is the feature attraction at Belmont Park Wednesday. The carding of this event is evidence in itself that the Westchester Racing" Association is convinced of the success of turf racing, which was inaugurated at Belmont this year on a tentative basis, with three events scheduled on the hurdle course, with the movable obstacles removed. The Go Between is an additional event written in the fourth issue of the condition book and another will be included in the final book. This is the 5;000 Frere Jacques Handicap, also at a mile and three furlongs, which will be run on closing day, June 12. A field of nine has been named for the Go Between, headed by Isidor Biebers No-thirdchance with 122 pounds. This mare appeared in yesterdays Suburban Handicap, but may not have done enough running to tire her. She raced well on the grass at Santa Anita last winter and turned in a fair effort to be fourth in the Tea-Maker Handicap here on May 22. Four others of Wednesdays field also appeared in the Tea-Maker, which was run over a soggy course. Frances De Luros Turgueneff, 116 pounds, closed with a rush to be a close second to Royal Governor, who 1s not in the Go Between. Lazy F Ranchs Out Point also finished well to be third, another length and a half away and a neck before Nothirdchance. He gets in with 114 pounds, a one-pound shift in his favor in relation to the mare and four in relation to Turgueneff. C. V. Whitneys Ming Yellow, who traveled a quarter of a mile or more farther than any of the others in the Tea-Maker and finished a distant sixth, is back with 105 pounds and may be very dangerous. Mrs. Phil Biebers Bicarb, who finished a length and a half behind Nothirdchance and seven lengths before Ming Yellow, gets in here with 108 pounds. C. Mahlon Klines Kaster, who showed a liking for the grass by winning the first of Belmonts turf races and second to Royal Governor in the second, which was also at seven furlongs, but has since finished unplaced in the Metropolitan Mile and an overnight handicap on the main course, is in the Go Between with 119 pounds. It is doubtful if he can carry his speed for 11 furlongs. The Go Between field is completed by A. F. Plocks Dead Duck, 116; Mrs. Ogden Phipps Neji, 112, and Mrs. G. L. Ohstroms Corinthien, 108 pounds. Neji may be the "dark horse" of this race, having won his last two starts on the hurdles here and showing more speed on the flat than ability to negotiate the hedges. Corinthien has also been racing creditably over hurdles, finishing third behind Neji and Rythminhim here, then finishing third at about two miles at the Adjacent Hunts on Saturday, beaten by Curley Joe and Hyvania. Dead Duck also raced oh Saturday, finishing unplaced in a test at a mile and a sixteenth on the main track. Johnny Adams, a specialist at grass course racing, will ride Neji, while George Glassner has been assigned to Bicarb. No other riders were named for the race this morning.
