Derby was contested one month ago, the Preakness on May 22 and the Belmont is down for decision on June 12. The paddock gaing is focusing their sights on the final bauble of the my thical "Triple Crown," lamenting the fact that time flies, and hoping that the local fixture will, to a certain extent, point out a top-notch three-year - old in Porter- nouse. Tne locals, wnue not dismissing Determine, the hero of Bill Corums big race at Churchill Downs, are somewhat chary in accepting this fellow as the best, for the simple reason the majority have not seen him in competition. Determine, if all goes well with him, would be welcomed here, for a Derby winner is always something of an attraction especially in his three-year-old year. Trainer Jimmie Smith reported that Stella Aurata, owned by Joe Donahue is through racing. The son of Arctic StarMy Aid pulled the suspensory ligaments in a trial the other morning-. The Irish-bred will be kept here until Donahues return from the Epsom Derby and then final arrangements as to his future in the stud will be decided. . . Emissaries from Thlstieuown near Cleveland are here in the interests of the Ohio Derby on July 10. This feature carries an endowment of 5,000 as does the ThistleDown Cup to be contested one week later. The nominations for the events are to close on Tuesday, June 8. Robert S. Lytle of California whose Correlation raced unplaced in the Jersey Stakes was a visitor yesterday. He reported that the colt showed pronounced lugging in tactics and a new type of bit will be used in his Belmont Stakes start on June 12. Jockey Willie Shoemaker will be her$ to handle the colt, who arrived yesterday from Garden State. . .Harry Palmer, first assistant to George Cassidy, will leave for Cumberland, Md., where he will serve as starter at that meeting which opens on June 13... Henri Soule, the well known New York caterer, made his first visit of the season for the Suburban. . . John Gaver of the Greentree Stable will leave for Europe on an inspection trip on June 16. He plans to return about July 26 and then get ready to move to Saratoga Springs. While abroad he will visit England and the horses that the Greentree Stable has in training there. Jimmie Coleman showed up this morning and announced that effective at five oclock on Monday, Suburban Day, he had severed his association with the Maine Chance Farm as trainer. Coleman took over the horses last Thursday... I. J. Collins, the itinerant Ohioan, was on hand yesterday accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Keiser. He came up from Delaware Park and tomorrow plans a trip westward. . .Trainer George M. Odom reported that Jet Master, owned by the Marlboro Stud, was returned from Delaware Park, where he turned in a good effort in the Wilmingibn Handicap. He also said that Queen Nasca and 1 Gay Reaper were back from Garden State. Jockeys Dave Gorman and Pete Anderson returned from out-of-town engagements, while Jack Westrope checked back to Delaware Park. The latter is due back on Saturday for a stakes engagement... John A. Morris was overwhelmed with congratulations attending the score of his first-time starter Phantom Song. ..Wedding bells will ring out for Miss, Katherine Ann Carmody and Fred Stevens, Jr., on June 12 at the Monastery Church in Jamaica. The wedding unites two riding families of past generations for both, fathers rode in Cuba in the twenties. Stevens is at present a jockey agent and his son holds a degree from Columbia following graduation last year. . .Tom Bragg, the Connecticut patron, showed up for the big afternoon and also did some rooting jor his Red Relic in the opener tand
