JACK WHYTE Death Takes Jack Whyte, Veteran Eastern Trainer Handled Sun Beat at One Time in Career; 83 at Time of Passing BELMONT PARK, Elmont, L. I., N. Y., June 1. Jack Whyte, one of the veterans and colorful characters of the racing scene, died at his Brooklyn, N. Y. home last night following a lingering illness. Whyte was 83 years old and was born in Hamilton, Ont., Canada. He was associated with racing for more than 65 years and in his youthful days was one of the leading steeplechase riders of the country. Later he turned to training and when with the Willis Sharpe Kilmer stable, developed some top-notch performers the best of which Sun Beau, one time worlds leading money winner. The remains are at the Boyertown Chapel, 38 Lafayette street, Brooklyn, and funeral services will be held at 9:30 a. m. on Thursday morning at the Church of Our Lady of Good Counsel915 Putman Avenue, to be followed by interment in Brooklyn. Until his recent illness, White handled the horses of Edward A. Dierickx, who handled the funeral service arrangements. Whyte is survived by a sister, Mrs. Minnie Rogers of Saskatchewan, Canada.
