The latter, forwardly placed and saving ground, vied for command in the stretch and just missed. SICKLE SUE closed with good energy on the outside. BLEMISH, in close quarters and improving position early, went evenly in the drive. KENTUCKY HOME, a forward factor, lacked a late rally. SHY SAILOR had no mishap. ISH-KABBLE, reserved within striking distance of the leaders, moved outside for the drive and was along in the final stride to outf inish EVEREST.1 The latter dropped out of contention soon after the start, came through along the inside to reach the leaders inside the final sixteenth arid just missed. GAME DAL, a forward facto, rallied to engage the leaders and-was pressing at the end. PETER BARTON, unhurried while settling into best stride, gained racing room along the inside and finished stoutly. SUN BUD was under urging to maintain a forward position and faltered. BLACK ROVER loomed as a threat on the outside going evenly in the drive. CINDY MORAN showed speed for six furlongs and weakened. MAKES SENSE showed nothing. GOOD-SHOPPER was unable to keep up. SANS-FAUTE, under urging to stay with the pace, came but slightly when pressed entering the stretch, lost the lead momentarily, responded to stout pressure inside the final sixteenth, regained command and drew out MR. F., under stout restraint close to the pace, gained racing room entering the stretch to gain the lead but was not good enough. TEL-AVIV rallied mildly from off the pace. ORAL, forwardly placed from the outset, lacked a late rally. MYSTIC GOLD went evenly. CHAIN TONGS, in hand and close to the pace, drifted out on the final turn and was eliminated. The latter drew clear after three furlongs but drifted out through the stretch and just missed. LADY BENT came up along the inside to enter contention before a half mile, responded to steady pressure but was not good enough. IN THE BOOK weakened after a half mile. LIGHTNING WILL went evenly.
