Real Brother Noses Out Fran Jr. at Rockingham Vernon SmithGuides Brady Colt Over Three-Quarters in 1:10 By JOE HIRSCH ROCKINGHAM PARK, Salem, N. H., June 2. J. T. Bradys Real Brother, held stylishly off the pace by Vernon Smith, won a final-furlong duel with Fran Jr. by a nose in a photo decision, to return .60 in the featured Belknap Purse here today. Hit Parade was a close third. Real Brother, a four-year-old son of Half Brother Paragreal, had a pair of wins and a place in his four previous outings this year. His last effort, at Suffolk Downs on Saturday, was a second behind Shrewd. The colt gave a good account of himself today, negotiating the six furlongs in 1:10. Real Brother was the choice of the 5,344 in attendance on this humid, overcast afternoon and his triumph was well received. Thomas Pepper was the early leader, closely accompanied down the backstretch by High Head. High Head gained a short advantage at" the head of the turn and was challenged by Fjan Jr; withVrony DeSpirito up. Smith called on Real Brother at the quarter pole and began his stretch battle with Fran Jr. at the furlong marker, dropping his nose in front at the wire. The strongly-supported Particolor nosed out Whistles Bro. in the co-featured sixth race to return .40 in a photo finish. Mrs. A. B. Eklofs three-year-old gelding accomplished the six furlongs in 1:11 for a successful New England debut, coming off a sprint win at Pimlico about a week ago. Helentar finished third. Particolor was the key horse throughout the race. William Balzaretti got him off winging and he dueled with the speedy fill- Broomette through most of the back-stretch. Whistles Bro. began to move at the five-eighths pole and took over as Particolors principal opponent at that point. The pair were neck-and-neck fown the homestretch with Particolof the winner by the narrowest of margins. R. Vernon Smith guided the favored Deflation home on top in the fifth race, covering the six furlongs in a sparkling 1:10, aijd gaining a length and a half victory over the persistent Brookridge. Deflation paid .00 for his triumph in a field oi nigher-priced horses, with claiming values ,000 and ,500. No Passing and Ish-Kabble combined for a Daily Double paypff , of 34.20.: i
