PUPPET, slow to reach best stride, was taken outside for the drive and wore- down MIGHTY ROAN. The latter was formidable from the start, attained, command nearing the end and just missed. WAR LOVER closed full of run after being forced to work her way between horses during the stretch run. DREAM PASSES raced BE FLYING into defeat to take a commanding lead at the furlong pole, then weakened. BILLIES BEAM made up considerable ground. WHY HURRY gave way in the drive. STEADY ACE gave way under pressure. BE FLYING, in front for a half mile, quit to a walk. ROS CLAG, eased back early, moved to the leader with the winner and was not good enough. JEANNIE C. was much used while racing FOUR CHANCES into defeat and gave way in the final sixteenth. MRS. G. R. could not keep pace early and raced evenly through the final half. FOUR CHANCES gave way badly when unable to stay with JEANNIE C. RATES BEST lacked sufficient speed. IRRITATE was disqualified for lugging in under pressure, thus bothering PHANTOM GOLD along the backstretch. ADOPT responded to pressure, but was not good enough. REQUISITION closed ground from far back, despite being forced to race on the outside. TOP BRASS set the pace under rating and weakened. ROYAL ADMIRAL gave way in the drive. TOSCA was a factor to the stretch and weakened. PHANTOM GOLD was taken up along the backstretch, remained in contention to the stretch and quit. ED THE GREAT moved menacingly to the stretch and hung in the drive. DOCTEUR wrested command on the final turn and then weakened. RONAS was outrun, as was MIKEABY.
