Biloxi, Adopt Triumph at Delaware Capture Divisions Of Split Feature Former Tops Going Away; Latter Is Awarded Race Through Disqualification By FRED GALIANI DELAWARE PARK, Stanton, Del, June 2. Mrs. Walter M. Jeffords Biloxi, a blaze-faced chestnut colt by Natchez, out of the stakes-producing mare, Ace Card, slipped through on the inside to win the second division of the Montchanin Handicap this afternoon, after Fillipo Baldis Irritate was disqualified in the first half and the race awarded to Winlochan Stables Adopt. Biloxi, under 107 pounds, the lightweight of the field of eight, came to the finish three-quarters of a length before Brookmeade Stables Going Away, the favorite, outgaming him in the last 70 yards. The choice came out of the race lame. A similar margin back in third place was Pebblebrook Farms Ed the Great. Biloxi, who is a nominee for the Belmont Stakes, paid .60 as the choice and required 1:46 for the mile and a sixteenth, duplicating the time of the first half. Willie Passmore rode the colt. A crowd estimated at 11,500 turned out for the midweek card. Biloxi Breaks Alertly Ace Card, the dam of Post Card, Yildiz and One Count, was. honored this afternoon when the fourth race on the card was named for her. Biloxi was lightly raced as a VfMinoref OT crrvincr t 4-V T iou"v.,6vui6 mj uuc yuait Jiuy Xlvc times and showing nothing. This year he broke his maiden in his third start when sent a distance and won for a ,500 claiming tag last time out at Belmont Park. Biloxi broke alertly and was well placed during the running of his division of the Montchanin. First Cover Off, Flying Away and then Docteur set the pace while the ultimate winner was never far behind them. At the head of the stretch, Biloxi had dropped back, to fourth, while the favorite made his bid and took command at the eighth pole. But Passmore worked on Biloxi and the chestnut came on again, to edge out the favorite as the latter gave way. Docteur likewise weakened from his efforts and was unable to hold off Ed the Great for third place. The first in the series of the Montchanin Handicap began today and was run in two divisions. The Montchanin is run at increasing distances for enlarged purses five times- during the meeting, and the horse amassing the greatest number of points, awarded on a first, second, third and fourth basis, get an additional monetary award. After a delay of 20 minutes Fillippo Baldis Irritate, longshot who finished first in the initial division of the Montchanin, was disqualified from first place and Wiri-lochain Stables Adopt moved up into the winners slot. Irritate was set down for bearing in on Mrs. J. Yancey Christmas -Phantom Gold, who originally finished next to last in the field of eight. In the revised placings, William Ziegler, Jr.s Requisition was put second and Leslie Jane Stables Top Brass third. The original margin of finish was a half length between. Irritate and Adopt. Adopt, second in his only previous start of the year, paid .20 and was guided over the mile and a sixteenth by Norman Cox in 1:46. Top Brass was the early pacemaker here, but Irritate and Adopt both passed him in the stretch, with, the former going under the wire first. Irritated was ridden by R. L. Stevenson.
