Issybee Tries for Repeat In OFaffon Purse Tonight Pride of Judea, All Tilly, Mary H., Tottenham Meet at Fairmount By C. A. LINDEMAN Staff Correspondent FAIRMOUNT PARK, Collinsville, 111., June 2. The OFallon Purse, an allowance test at six furlongs for three-year-olds and older horses who have not won more than one race this year, drew a full field of 12 starters to vie for a ,700 purse. This field of sprinters brings together some very speedy short distance runners of which Issybee, from the stable of E. F. Curran, appears to have a slight edge. Issybee was returned fchp winner nf vic last race here at the six-furlong distance and, from the ease in which he was going away to win by a length and a quarter margin over Red Rudolph in 1:12, he looks like the one they will have to defeat in this featured event. His race prior to the winning one was also impressive from the fact that he was second to Glenn K, only beaten off by three-quarters of a length in 1:11. With the weather report favorable, it now appears like the racing strip will be in a fast condition for the running of the OFallon Purse. J. Gaylords four-year-old, Pride of Ju-df.a, who has been racing against the best sprinters here in the handicap divisions and getting nothing, will try for his second win of the meeting, having won an allowance affair on May 12 by two lengths in 1:11 to defeat the same horse Issybee defeated, Red Rudolph. Pride of Judea is a bit tardy in getting into his best stride but, once he gets going, he can really turn it on and is a dangerous foe at the six-furlong distance when in with his own type. All Tilly, a very flashy filly from the stable of Mr. and Mrs. G. B. Holman, will be in. the OFallon giving a good account of herself if she runs back to her good race in which she finished a strong second to Harry-Lou in the Maplewood sprint .race. This filly has early speed and, if the pace is not too fast, she can give an excellent account of herself at six furlongs. Others that appear to be strong contenders in the Thursday night feature are Mary H., a very fast filly away from the gate; Barbie B also a very fast mare from the gate; Tattenham and- We Dood It, both of whom should also provide good competition at the six-furlong distance. Crossbow Girl proved her superiority in the heavy going when she got up in the last stride to outgame her closest rival to win the major portion of the ,500 purse in the "French Village Purse" event, the main attraction of the Tuesday night! card. The four-year-old filly, owned by Mr. and Mrs. G. B. Holman, was a little tardy in getting into her best stride but once under way she fairly flew over the heavy racing strip rounding the stretch turn. Her rider, R. Brackett, kept after tor and, under a hard drive was able to outlast the charging Hopeful Sam to win by a scant nose. The race was run before a small week-night crowd of 4.700 fans that hmvoH tin a in clement weather to take in the nine-race card. Hopeful Sam was also far back in the early stages of the six-furlongs feature but finished with a terrific burst of speed in the last furlong while getting through between leaders, was making a strong bid at the finish, but was not good enough. Show Wave, a field horse, got up in the final stages to take down the show money. Red Rudolph, the favorite, apparently didnt favor the going as he gave way in the stretch drive, after making a strong bid entering the last furlong. Crossbow Girl, overlooked by the fans, paid 1.40 and the six furlongs was timed in 1:13. Trainer J. EFreshwater checked in from Fort Miami, Ohio, with the three horses Circulator, Charging Prince and Wise Advisor. The stable owned by the three partners, C. Palon, L. Jaquez and D. Figmaka, consisting of the five horses, Bessie G., Master Tower, Head Me, Hour Lad and Dinah j Flight, arrived from Ohio. The stable is j trained by Leonard B. Jaquez. A recent arrival from the Wheeling Downs meeting has the stable owned by Mrs. E. E. Watson. The stable is made up of nine head headed by Psychic Star, Sir Flag, Cold Shot and Three good three-year-olds. E. E. "Doc" Watson does the training of the stable.
