Won driving; second and third the same; PEGGYS BRANDY responded readily after being guided between horses for the stretch run and was along in the concluding strides to outgame DOWN HOME. . The latter went to the front at once, then held sway until well inside the final furlong before faltering. DROGHEDA was unable to improve his position when hafd hustled through the late stages. DRY SPELL lacked a rally. ROSEY MISS arid WHIPPERSNAPPER had no apparent mishap. SABOURIN was unable to keep Up. MILLEAUX was through early. YANKEE ACE and the others never menaced. LIBERTY LUCK saved ground next to the inner rail down the backstretch, came to the middle of the track forfhe drive, but rallied too belatedly to seriously endanger the top one. PLEIADES failed to make up appreciable ground through the final furlong. ELIAS G., much used early, had little left when the real test came. VIGOROUS drifted out on the near turn,, swerved while tiring during the drive and was unable to overtake the leaders. BLEU FEATURE retired steadily after flashing brief speed. NEAR SHORE worked his way forward to dispose of CHECHESSEE inside the stretch and briskly drew clear when fully extended.- CHECHESSEE held a slight lead when settled, for the drive, faltered When challenged and, under pressure, was unable to cope with the winner. FOE moved up menacingly leaving the final turn, then flattened when subjected to stern punishment. MAZINGA lacked the necessary rally. BLACK RELIC began sluggishly. OPEN COUNTRY tired. LONG STRETCH sprinted to the front at once, attained a clear lead nearing the furlong market and, under adept handling, retained a safe advantage over FASHION PAGE. The latter, never far back, was unable to overtake the leader during the drive, but ;easily prevailed over the others. SEARCHING flashed good speed early, but failed to, respond when called upon for her best effort. T1CKLY BENDER tired. LADY TIPTOE and LADY ATOM never were formidable. HIGH GUN, permitted to settle into best stride, was sent into closer contention on the final turn, responded readily when shaken for the stretch run and was along in the concluding strides to outgame FISHERMAN. The latter, always within striking distance, forged to the front on the far turn, retained a clear lead at the furlong marker, but shortened stride while tiring during the "late stages and was unable to withstand the winner, although easily best of the others. KASTER, cleverly ridden, alternated in setting and pressing the early pace, regained command inside the furlong marker and gamely held WILLIAMSBURG safe. The latter, far back early, slipped through on the inside to attain a contending position leaving the near turn, came out for the drive and steadily was Wearing down the winner. PICADOR, a sharp factor from the start, went to the front after six furlongs, gave way to the winner inside the stretch, then held on determinedly, in a sharp effort. SAXONY came to the inside for the drive and closed with good energy. OUT POINT, carried out on the final turn, finished gamely after being straightened. DEAD DUCK moved up menacingly entering the stretch, but flattened when punished. CORINTHIEN and BICARB were unable to keep up. ROYAL GOVERNOR and TURGUENEFF were outrun. JAMIE K. never was prominent.
