CLOSING NIGHT broke alertly, was roused after a quarter mile to move close to the pace on the extreme outside, responded to stout pressure through the stretch and outfinished FIGHTING LOW. The latter improved his position gradually, loomed as the winner entering the stretch, bore in slightly and hampered the chances of rider. DEBMODE assumed an early lead, was unable to draw clear and held on tenaciously. COTTON BUD raced close to Ihe pace for five furlongs and weakened. STAKEPOINT raced evenly. GIFTED BOOTS was in close quarters. UNCLE FUD lackedearly speed. CARESS showed nothing. HASTY HEART was never prominent. MARK U. flattened out under pressure. The latter broke alertly, dropped slightly off the pace for a quarter mile, regained a forward position, responded to pressure but was not good enough. WISE BALLA rallied mildly in the closing stages. MISS SICLETTE showed good speed but weakened in the final furlong. BEST CHANCE, sluggish in the early stages, lost ground when passing horses on the extreme outside. YOULL LEARN was unable to keep up. The latter was forced wide on the first turn, responded to pressure in She stretch, but was not good enough. SHINY PETER drove up along the inside with a late rally that fell short. RESIGNED was forced wide on the first turn, rallied to gain on the leader and bad nothing left in the late stages. SPOOL faltered after a mild challenge. PAVOLD bore out rounding the first turn, was taken in hand, dropped back and showed nothing thereafter. The others were outrun. NUTMEG LAD, in hand and close to the pace, nearly ran up on horses heels at the final turn, gained racing room after straightened away and drew clear in the final sixteenth. AFRICANCE, steadied within striking distance and on the outside, rallied mildly but was unable to match strides with the winner. BUSY SIGNAL forced the early pace, getting the lead before entering the stretch, was unable to draw clear and weakened. CLAYS CHOICE, close up and under stout restraint, lost ground entering the stretch and failed to make up ground at the end. FOUR NIGHT was used up forcing the pace. The others were outrun. The latter assumed an early lead under .stout restraint, gave way and remained close up while saving ground, responded when roused and pressed to the final sixteenth and weakened. TOY HUNT moved up after a mile to engage the leaders; then weakened in the final, quarter mile. TOMEBAMBA lacked a late rally.
