Ohio Derby Draws Sophomore Stars Hasty Road and Correlation Nominated for ThistleDown Stake Scheduled for July 10 , THISTLEDOWN, North Randall, Ohio, June 12. Two of the countries outstanding three-year-olds, Hasty House Farms Hasty Road and Robert S. Lytles Correlation, have been nominated for the 20th running of the 5,000 added Ohio Derby to be run here at ThistleDown on the afternoon of Saturday, July 10. Hasty Road, a strapping son of Roman Traffic Court, was the leading two-year-old money winner of all time when he collected 77,132 in purses last season for his Toledo, Ohio, owners Mr. and Mrs. Allie E. Reuben. Hasty Road won both the Arlington and Washington Park Futurities as well as the Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes, and the Breeders Futurity, his only poor races of last season were at Belmont Park when the colt was prepping for the Futurity at that track. This season after a slow beginning at Hialeah the colt won the Preakness Stakes for his most important victory to date besting Correlation in a. bitter stretch duel. Before that Hasty Road had been second to Determined in the Derby and just prior to that won the Derby Trial in 1:35 which was track record time. Johnny Adams has been riding Hasty Road in all his stakes engagements and if the colt is shipped to this point for the Ohio Derby the veteran will accompany him. Florida Derby Victor Correlation has been raced quite frequently thus far in 1954 and is one of the leading money earners of the season. The colt gained a thrilling victory in the 00,-000 added Florida Derby coming from far off the pace to nail the victory in the final strides to the wire. He also took honors in the Wood Memorial at Jamaica early in April and collected another 00,000 for his California owner. He was shipped to Kentucky following his score in the Wood and after being in trouble during the early stages of the Derby finished, quite well, but was however unplaced. Correlations next stop was Pimlico where he defeated Hasty Road in the Preakness Prep and then finished second to that colt in the "big one." After the Preakness Correlation was shipped to Garden State where he ran his only poor race of the year finishing out of the money in the Jersey Stakes. Correlation was the public choice to win the 00,000 added Belmont Stakes this afternoon. A complete list of nominations for the Derby will be announced later in the week. J
