MISS CLAUDIA raced in the first flight soon after the start, moved to the fore on the backstretch and held on tenaciously through the stretch. FOREST KNIGHT worked his way up between horses, finishing gamely. W00DM0RE lacked a rally. DAZZLING MISS faltered after looming dangerously on the final turn. MARKET TIP was in close quarters repeatedly through the race. GRAND BOREALIS tired. CLOSE PLAY took the overland route. HOUCKS MILL quit badly. TWO BY SEA gained the lead at once, raced with DILLY WHILLY throughout and, while being strongly handled, gained the narrow decision. The latter raced closest the pace and just missed. BONE DRY, allowed to settle into stride, moved from the outside on the turns to loom the most dangerous entering the stretch and then hung in the final strides. DIABLO was strongly ridden in the early stages when trying to lug in and then raced evenly. HASTY GIRL tired. FAST COMPANY showed little. COLONEL JETT trailed. Won driving; second and third the same. BEST AIR was allowed to settle into best stride moved along rapidly on the turns and was along to outfinish CROSS RING in the final strides. The latter gained the lead at the start, saved, ground on the turns and hung on tenaciously through the late stretch; MR JETT steadily improved his position. SHAMROCK, well back in the early going as usual, made a belated bid from the outside, but could not threaten the top ones. SHAG TAILS was always on the outside of horses. THE VEEP tired after forcing CROSS RINGS early pace. BIG MONEY quit. WHIFFENPOOF was never a factor. WOLF GAL loomed a stout factor midway along the backstretch, was caught in close quarters and had to be taken back to last position. COLUMCILLE was done early.
