: ; Atlantic City to Offer Over 00,000 in Stakes at Meet Run Ten Features on Grass; Combined Value of 17,500 For Triple Turf Classic ATLANTIC CITY, N. J., June 12. Eighteen stake events, 10 on the grass and eight on the main track, with added money in excess of 00,000, are carded by the At-Lantic City Race Course in the schedule announced today for its 50-day meeting which opens on August 10. Top fixture Will be the second running of the United Nations Handicap, the grass course classic which brings together the first four finishers in the Shore tracks Foreign Bred and American Bred stakes. This event, to be run on Saturday, September 25, at one mile and three -sixteenths, guarantees its winner 0,000. The two preliminaries, to be run 10 days previously at one mile and a furlongs for three-year-olds and upward, each have added money of 5,000. Consequently the combined minimum value of the this years "Triple Turf Classic" will be 17,500. Entries for the grass series will close on August 2, but the other stakes events will close three weeks in advance just as they did last year. An interesting new event in the list is a one mile handicap on the grass for two-year-olds. This, the Absecon Island Handicap, with added money of 0,000, which will close the meeting on October 6, is the first such grass stake ever run in this country. Emphasis on Grass Sport Atlantic City continues to place the emphasis on turf racing with the other six grass events carrying added money of 35,000. These include the Boardwalk Handicap for three-year-olds" and upward at one mile; the Ventnor Handicap for three-year-olds at one mile and a furlong; the Miss America Turf Stakes for three-year-old fillies at one mile; the Philadelphia Turf Handicap for three-year-olds and upward at one mile and a furlong; the Ocean City Handicap, a five and one-half furlong sprint for three-year-olds and upward, and the Atlantic City Turf Handicap, for horses in the same age group at one mile and a sixteenth, the Labor Day feature. The eight attractions scheduled for the main track will carry total added money of 45,000. These start with the Pageant Handicap, a six-furlong sprint for three-year-olds on opening day, and include the Margate Handicap for two-year-old fillies at six furlongs; the Mermaid Handicap, seven furlongs, for three-year-olds and upward, fillies and mares; Parkway Handicap, three-year-olds and upward, seven furlongs; Longport Handicap, two-year-old colts and geldings at six furlongs; Worlds Playground Stakes, two-year-olds, seven furlongs; Home Bred Handicap, two-year-olds foaled in New Jersey, six furlongs; and the Olympic Handicap, three-year-olds and upward at one mile and a furlong. The Parkway, with 0,000 added, is a new race. It pays tribute to the new Garden State Parkway, Which is nearing com-" pletion and will run from one end of New Jersey to the other over a scenic route, passing along the shore oval and making a most convenient trip to the track from the New York metropolitan area, and North Jersey points. The varied program includes four races for fillies and mares, five for two-year-olds, two for three-year-olds and the remainder for three and upward.
