Silver Relief Registers In Opener at Fort Miami Triumphs Oyer Tattooed Lady; Varcarcel Astride First Winner By TOMMY MULLIGAN . . Staff Correspondent FORT MIAMI, Maumee, Ohio, May 4. — Another mid-summer afternoon was enjoyed . by the 1,700 fans who turned out to witness the sport at the Fort Miami track. J. E. Freshwaters chestnut gelding, Silver Relief, scored a length and a quarter victory over F. Guciardos Tattooed Lady in the opener and returned .20. Jockey Norman Cartwright did the booting. The second race was captured by P. Bay-leys Prewitt who paid 6-to-l. The winners margin of victory was a short head over J. L. Davis Hypocritical who finished three-quarters of a length to the fore of C. D. Steeles Deposition. The latter eked out a neck decision over Iva Mae Parrishs Red Swivel for the show award. The Daily Double combination of Silver , Relief and Prewit returned. 5.80 and gave, apprentice Carlos Varcarcel his initial sad- die victory at the Fort Miami oval. He was astride Prewitt. Geraldine Mecklings Court Rina registered a two and one-half .lengths score over Pairoff in the third and was the second public choice to get home in front out of the first three races of the afternoon. Pairoff was in advance of Lady Poet while Red Swivel, the favorite, wound up fourth. Cecil M., racing in the interests and colors of Robert H. Close and piloted by Johnny Catanzaro, accounted for the fourth, defeating W. Allans Biddy Doyle by a neck in a dingrdong finish with .Catanzaro and £ Apprentice James Mc-Cracken whipping" and a slashing right to the wire. Miss Olga, the favorite in this test, which was also at five-furlongs, had to be content with third money. Cecil M. rewarded his scattered /supporters/ with* * 1.20 mutuel. w* *• .
