i Several Improvements At Hollywood Course New Roof1"errace and Escalators Added; More Grandstand Seats HOLLYWOOD PARK, Inglewood, Calif., May 4. — New escalators and a roof terrace for clubhouse patrons and 2,000 new seats f or-grandstand fans-will be ready for Hollywood Park race goers when the 1955 thoroughbred meeting opens Friday, May 13. The new Hollypark clubhouse improvements, designed by architect Arthur Froeh-lich of Beverly Hills who has made Hollywood Park one of the -most modern and attractive racing plants in the world, will! add further beauty to the building as well as increasing its capacity. Two new escalators will operate at the left of the redesigned clubhouse entrance, with new stairways at the right. The escalators will lead to the box and reserved seat areas and to the clubhouse dining room, lounges and new roof terrace. Furnished with chairs and umbrellas, the terrace will be a large open-air area where clubhouse patrons may sit or stroll between races. Inasmuch as Hollywood Park operates during the spring and summer when the southland weather is at its balmiest, the roof terrace is expected to prove one of the tracks most popular spots. Half of the new seats for grandstand patrons are located in the lawn terrace, the open-air are.a at the north end of the building that proved so popular with grandstand fans when put into use last year. Other new seats have been installed throughout the interior of the grandstand so that patrons can be accommodated on unusually heavy days. Other improvements installed for the 53-day season, according to vice-president and general manager James D. Stewart, include new gardens in the grandstand area and a new roof over the previously uncovered clubhouse boxes and reserved seats.
