To Cash Never Headed in 1955 Bow Woodland Filly Upsets at Camden Defeats Peter Lane Length And Half After Running Six Furlongs in Sparkling 1:10 By FRED GALIANI GARDEN STATE PARK, Camden, N. J., May 4. — Making her first start of the year, Woodland Farms To Cash streaked to a front-running upset triumph in the featured York Purse this afternoon, leading her rivals from start to finish in a rapid 1:10 for the six furlongs. Closest to her at the finish, was Mrs. Ethel Jacobs favored Peter Lane, who was a, length and a half behind. It was the same distance back to Cedar Farms Wondrous Hour. To Cash lighted up the mu-tuel board with a 5.20 payoff for her victory. Kenny Church had the saddle assignment and the pairs time was only fwo-fifths off the track record. v Another good-sized throng turned out on a perfect spring day, with 21,160 on hand for the Wednesday card. Woodland Farm is owned by Amory Haskell, president of Monmouth Park. Displays High Turn of Speed The bay daughter of Cassis — Twotimer, who was bred by Mrs. J. D. S. Coleman, had managed to win two out of 11 starts last season, but had always showed a high turn of speed. When she broke her maiden at Atlantic City she covered the six furlongs in a similar 1:10, loping under the wire by seven lengths. To Cash was quickly shuttled away from the gate at the start of the York, with Bronze Warrior and Rippish well up in the early running. Peter Lane, an invader from New York in the popular Jacobs colors, broke in a tangle and was last soon after they left the barrier, but Walter Blum quickly rushed him into contention between horses. To Cash opened a commendable lead going down the backstretch, with Wondrous Hour and Peter Lane finally established as the chief contenders as they went to the far turn. The filly maintained her lead, while Wondrous Hour launched a threatening bid with a move alongside the inside rail. Peter Lane came to the outside for his challenge, while Algasir was behind Wondrous Hour on the inside of the pack. .Church roused To Cash vigorously in the last sixteenth, taking no "chances with the •■filly. Peter Lane had no trouble finishing second, while Wondrous Hour may have lost her chance when she bore out on the turn. Algasir turned in a good effort, finishing fourth and may have been intimidated somewhat by Wondrous Hour in his rail position.
