1 Magnolia Park Handle Shows 14 Per Cent Gain Over 1954 NEW ORLEANS, La., May 4.— Magnolia Park concluded its initial spring meeting of harness racing .by registering healthy gains over its inaugural program of trotting and pacing dates last falL The local five-eighths mile oval wound up its 34 nights of spring racing on April 30. The fall meeting will find the trotters and pacers returning to this area on Thursday night, Sept. 8. The final night of racing capped the climax for Magnolia Park when a total of 01,328 was wagered by a crowd estimated to be in excess of 5.000. It was" the third time during the meeting that a new betting record was established. The mutuel handle for the spring meeting showed a 14 per cent nightly average gain over the tracks initial fall racing dates.
