I "jgmsm I Arlington Park By J. J. Murphy Wine List Training for Return to Races Made Last Appearance Under Silks in 1951 George ,Carr to Host Party Opening Day ARLINGTON PARK, Arlington Heights, 111. June 18. Looking over the horses during the workout hours the other morning at Washington Park we thought we recognized an old friend among i i the the equine equine brigade. brigade. It It was was a a I "jgmsm I the the equine equine brigade. brigade. It It was was a a case of "your face is familiar, but I dont know where to put it." After several periods of meditation we had the answer. It was Wine List, a thoroughbred who disappeared from the turf scene several seasons ago to become a daddy. Now, after having had a couple of seasons at stud, Wine List is back and appears to be happy about it. Seems to " m-twi prefer romping with the younger horses rather than raising a family. The son of Questionnaire has been breezing satisfactorily and may soon make a start. Last time he showed upunder silks was in 1952 when he won the Flemings Memorial from his stablemate, Roman Bath; was second in the Drexel back of Johns Joy, and third in the Clang. In all, Wine List has had four years of racing. He was unbeaten in two starts as a two-year-old and won the Aqueduct Handicap at three and again at four. Reason for his retirement was a broken bone in his foot that has completely mended during his term at stud. Wine List has sired about a dozen thoroughbreds and the first of his get are now two-year-olds. Although the veteran is owned by a syndicate of which Mr. and Mrs. Allie Reuben are members, he will race in the silks of Hasty House Farm, owned by the Reubens, who purchased him some years back from the Greentree Stable. Gelding May Become Top Grass Factor Another horse from Hasty House staged quite a comeback here Friday, when the seven-year-old Ruhe was victorious in a turf race at six furlongs. Time was when Ruhe, who had been purchased from Emil Dene-mark, was the main dependence of Hasty House. He has always shown a liking for the grass and finished second in the first International at Laurel. He looked like his old self Friday in running three-quarters in 1:11, to win going away. Owner Reuben was so pleased that he has hopes that Ruhe will again become a potent factor in grass stakes this summer. In being triumphant in his recent effort, Ruhe boosted his all-time earnings to 87,310. He has started 87 times and been in the money 55 times, winning 11 races.
