J. MURPHY ARLINGTON PARK, Arlington Heights, 111., June 24. The Laurance Armour Memorial Handicap, for a purse of 5,000 added at one and one-eighth miles on the main course, will be the feature offering for the first Saturday of racing at Arlington Park. If all entered go postward, a field of eleven will contest the issue and nine interests will be represented as Mister Black and Sea O Erin have been named to carry the silks of Hasty House Farm, and Mark-Ye-Well and Fleet Bird have been designated as the Calumet Farm entry. Others named for the week-end feature are Reverie Knoll Farms Smoke Screen, Walmac Farms Hasseyampa, Samuel Tu-fanos Wise Margin, Monaghan Farms Pelouse, Mrs. H. L. Nathensons Blue Choir, Sam E. Wilson, Jr.s, Bugledrums and C. Fritz Sir Tribal. Winners of Balmoral Stakes Mister Black, winner of the Continental Turf Handicap at the Balmoral meeting, will carry the highweight of 124 pounds, and Sea O Erin, who took the Citation Handicap, also at Balmoral, will have one pound less. Mister BJack, who is better known for his grass races but who has demonstrated his ability to run over a dirt course, will be appearing for the first time since the Continental. Shortly following that affair he injured a leg, which has been slow in coming around. If all go, it will be wortlv 8,275 gross and 6,750 net to the winner. It will come seventh on the nine-race bill, with first post time for the day being 1 :45 p. m. Sea O Erin has won five stakes this year. Unlike his stablemate, he is a horse who prefers the dirt track to the grass course. He stopped badly in the Continental, which was on the grass, but came right back with a very impressive race in the Citation on the main track. Later he finished fourth in the Balmoral Turf Handicap, won by Blue Choir. Johnny Adams, has been named on both Hasty House farms runners. Mark-Ye -Well, in the Armour with 111 pounds, has failed to be in the money in 12 starts this season; His best races were in the Suburban and the Excelsior. He finished fourth in each event. The former Calumet star ran a poor race in the Balmoral Turf Handicap, finishing ninth. Fleet Bird has not won in five starts this season. His best racing has-been done on the West Coast, where in 1953 he set a worlds record for one and three-sixteenths miles and won the Sunset Handicap at Hollywood Park last year. Dave Erb has been named on both Calumet runners. Baldwin to Ride Blue Choir Blue Choir, who will carry 117 pounds in Saturdays contest and will be ridden by Ronnie Baldwin, turned in a fine effort to win the Balmoral Turf Handicap, which was his second straight success. He took an allowance event earlier at that meeting, his first American triumph in nine starts.- Wise Margin comes off a couple of very ordinary races in stakes at Balmoral. In the Citation .he finished last in a field of 13 and was unplaced later. This will mark his thirteenth start of the year. His stakes successes came inthe Letellier Memorial at the Fair Grounds and the Plymouth Rock Handicap at Suffolk Downs. He was third in the Massachusetts Handicap. Wise Margin will carry 118 pounds and Keith Stuart will ride. Smoke Screen has finished second in four of his last five starts, all stake races. Those affairs were the Balmoral Turf Handicap, the Domino, and the LaSalle at "the Balmoral meeting and the Ben Ali Handicap in Kentucky. In each event Smoke Screen was gaining on the winner. Hasseyampa, a good three-year-old last year, has displayed but little this season. He was fourth in the Continental, which, was his first grass race, and twelfth in the Citation. Smoke Screen will carry 114 pounds and Hasseyampa will have 115. The others in the Armour field must be rated as the outsiders. Pelouse was twice second at six furlongs during the Balmoral session, Sir Tribal running for the first time in stakes company, was fifth in the Domino, and Bugledrums won in the mud at six furlongs at the South Side meeting.
