MYRNA ARLENE pressed the pace from the start, could not match strides on the turn, came again when SUMPINEXTRA gave way suddenly and won going away. The latter" went into a clear lead quickly, held command until midway of the drive and shortened stride suddenly. SHINING JEFF had no excuse. UNDELY was forwardly placed and lacked a closing rally. M. was on nearly even terms for the lead between horses on the turn, bore in and had to be steadied to avoid interference at the furlong post, shook off LAURA DONNA and just lasted over GYPSY CHIEF. A claim of foul against the winner by the rider of LAURA DONNA was not allowed. GYPSY CHIEF was slow to gain best stride, forged between horses and was getting to the winner. DESESONG had no excuse in a good effort: LAURA DONNA drove through on the rail to challenge for command on the turn and faltered in the final furlong. TRIPLE HONORS closed well after a slow beginning and should go better when sent a longer distance. SNOW WILLOW had no excuse. THERMOSTAT Jore out on the turn and failed to rally. MARTHAS WAVE, forced to race wide on the first turn, moved up rapidly on the backstretch, displaced the leaders without need of urging and won in hand. FIREY ADEL, allowed to settle into stride early, went up strongly to reach a contending position on the final turn and was no match for the winner. ECHO ROCK came by tired horses with a mild belated bid. BLENMINT tired, as did JACK KENNY. BUSTER BUTTONS made the early pace and gave way once displaced.
