Imbros Finished Racing; Syndicated Stud Planned Two Eastern and a California Group Offer to Stand Stallion HOLLYWOOD PARK, Inglewood, Calif., June 24. Andrew J. Crevolin announced this morning that Imbros is to be retired to the stud at once, following a short unwinding process at Hollywood Park where the son of Polynesian has been in light training for the past few months. Said Crevolin: "Imbros is to be syndicated. I have had two eastern offers and one from a California group. No definite decision will be reached regarding where he will stand until some time next week, but it is my sincere hope that I can come to terms with the California group, and that Impros will stand out here." Trainer Bill Molter, who has handled the horse and brought him to among the tops of the national handicap division, had this to say regarding the retirement of Imbros: "The horse is sound now, but there are indications that he might go wrong if we should go on with him. It is our wish that he retire as a sound horse, and for that reason Mr. Crevolin has decided to take him out of racing for good." Molter went on to say that Imbros will be gradually unwound here before being sent to stud. , Imbros won seven stakes last year, most of them under high weight. One of his greatest performances was in winning the 1954 inaugural running of the 00,000 Californian, in which he equalled the then worlds record of 1:41 flat -for a mile and a sixteenth. Imbros, now five, is by Polynesian out of Fire Falls, by Bull Dog.
