Bomb Cry Makes Good At Narragansef Park Turns Back Rockcastle, Galham For Second Straight Success By JOE HIRSCH NARRAGANSETT PARK, Pawtucket, R. I., June 24. Phil Schwartz favored Bomb Cry wTas a front-running winner of the featured Pleasant Purse this overcast afternoon, closing evenly through the final furlong to hold Mrs. J. A. Leones Rockcastle safe by half a length with Mrs. Q. A. S. McKeans Galham another length and three-quarters farther back for the minor award. A crowd of 8,281 looked on in humid summer weather. Bomb Cry, a three-year-old son of Cosmic Bomb Goose Cry, returned .40 for his second win of the campaign in two starts. Capabaly handled by Tony Tavares, the well-bred sophomore covered the, six panels in, 1:12, fastest ,time of the afternoon over a sloppy strip. He carried 108 pounds. Bomb Cry was acquiredby Schwartz, the noted Connecticut sportsman, last year at private terms, ran once at this, track in November, and lost his rider that day. He came back to the races on June 7 here and tallied in a hard drive in maiden company. Today he ran like he might develop into a competent performer. Galham was away first from the gate in the feature, after delaying the start of the race for about eight minutes with a broken bridle. O. G. Whiz also began alertly as did Emboss and Bomb Cry while Rockcastle broke poorly. Tavares took Bomb Cry right to--the front between horses and at the- half mile pole was a pair of lengths in front of Emboss. Turning for home Bomb Cry enjoyed a half length advantage over Rockcastle, who had moved quickly into the runner-up position with Galham in a contending slot another length and a half back. Straightening away, Bomb Cry was always in front to the wire, maintaining an even half- length lead over Rockcastle for the tally. . , , j t u I
