ATASCOSA was well up from the start and saving ground where possible, got to the front after entering the stretch to pull away from KAREN ARTHENE in the last sixteenth. The latter had the most early speed but weakened rather badly atfer passing the midstretch. TOUCH OF OR was unable to keep up with the pace and failed to threaten. OCEAN -HOP moved up on the outside nearing the stretch turn to finish far in front of the others. SALLY D. raced fairly well up early, but tired in the stretch. SPACE ROCKET also tired, badly. CRESSIVE stopped almost to a canter in the stretch. JEAN HAC was badly outrun. GINGER SUE was never dangerous in a dull effort in the going. LATE PAPERS was beaten off when eased up in the stretch. SILVER ROBBY soon sprinted to the front to increase ; his advantage nearing the stretch turn and was not in serious danger in the stretch. VALIDITY came fast in : the middle of the track after entering the stretch to easily best the rest. SPRING WATER was never too far away in a steady effort. LEGATEE attempted to race around a half dozen horses on the first turn, losing much ground, then moved up nearing the stretch turn, but was unable to find, an opening in Ihe stretch until too late. VALIDON was rated for a half mile, then made a strong move on the inside nearing the stretch turn to find an opening, and forging to the front of ENGLISH LAD after entering the last furlong, easily pulled away. BOBTAG was fairly close up for the first five furlongs, then came fast through the stretch to dispose of the others. NEXT PAGE also made up considerable ground and was racing strongly at the finish. ENGLISH LAD weakened after getting to the front nearing the stretch turn. EN FLEUR went well for five furlongs. NIVAL and WARLESS stopped badly. Scratched— 78928* My Fault, 112. PET REWARD went to the front early to make the pace and went courageously after being headed. PRACTICAL made up ground in the stretch to finish strongly on the outside. BLUE DAGGER also finished fairly well. FOLDING DOUGH shewed no inclination to run at any stage and was eased up in the stretch.
