American-Owned Talgo Wins Duke of York Handicap Special to Daily Racing Form LONDON, England, May 11 Reuters. — "Manny" Mercer, who won the Irish 2,000 Guineas on Lucero for the American owner, G. A. Oldham, on Wednesday, was successful in the same colors today in the ,345 Duke of York Handicap at Kempton Park, Mercer had Oldhams three-year-old colt, Talgo, poorly placed in the early running, but making up ground on the outside Mercer skillfully wened his way past 11 rivals to win by one and one-half lengths from Lady Cholmbndeleys Prince Moon, 9-to-l chance. The ll-to-8 favorite, Tudor Era, was two lengths back in third place. Talgo Krakatao — Miss France continued the successful run of trainer Harry Wragg, who conditioned Lucero to win the Irish classic. Talgo, 7-to-l shot, was timed the ten furlongs in 2:06%.
