Brownie Leach Pays Tribute To Krehbiel on Radio Show , CHURCHILL DOWNS, Louisville, Ky. May 11. — As his part on the daily radio show over station WHAS from the Louisville track, Brownie Leach, press and public relations director, yesterday paid tribute to George Krehbiel, who died earlier in the day. Leach said that in more than 30 years of knowing Krehbiel he had found him one of the great fellows of the newspaper field." The Downs representative added, George was a great help to me when I first started covering the Derby as a sports writer. Later, when I moved into publicity work in Lexington and in Louisville, George was most cooperative. Few writers ever asked for less, and he was always ready to help me out of a tough spot. Racing in Kentucky, in fact racing everywhere, has lost a distinguished friend and fair critic. This reflects the thinking of the j entire Churchill Downs group."
