Flashy Ways Totems 121 | In Handicap at Fonner ! Has Platitude as Running Mate; Alacorte/ Reno John Also Named FONNER PARK, Grand Island, Nebr., May 12.— Glenn Murphys Flashy Ways takes up top weight of 121 pounds in Saturdays featured handicap which carries a purse of ,000 and will be decided over the mile and 70 yards distance. Under his impost, Flashy Ways will concede from three to 16 pounds to his nine rivals. Other weight allotments in "the Saturady feature are Aj/ rte, 118; Reno John, 118; Platitude, 117; Eternal Town, 115; Red Randy, 108; Spunky Gal, 110; Son o Troy, 108; lion, 107, and Srifting In, 105 . Flashy Ways, who will race as an entry with Platitude, won his only start at Fonner Park, winning the Inaugural Handicap at six and one-half furlongs in the track record time of 1:19%. Since that impressive win he has been unable to* find enough horses to fill against him and has been inactive for two weeks. This inactivity may leave the son of Flash O Night a little short of stamina for his Saturday appearance, but he is certain to give -a good account of himself. Reno John and Spunky Gal, who race for Ben Fogelson, will also be coupled. Reno John won the Omaha "400 Club" Handicap a wek ago by five lengths over an "off" track. The Johnson-trained gelding was overlooked in the betting. The other half of the entry has not started since * winning two races at Oaklawh Park. Eternal Town, owned by Phil Brossard, and W. R. Warrens Alacorteuwere secpnd and third, respectively, to Reno in the "400 Club" Handicap. Eternal Town beat the fast closing Warren entry by a short head. * Alacorte won four races during the 1956 season at Santa Anita over a distance of ground and will like the added distance of the Saturday headliner. Though there will be only an added 70 yards, the way he closed a week ago, it will be definitely to his advantage. The Saturday program will- carry nine races and will have the first fielH of horses going to the post at 2:30 P.M. CST.
