CROWNETTE was closest to ROMAN FLASH for five furlongs, then slipped through en the inside of the latter around the far turn to take a good lead and saveground in the stretch but was all out to hold SU-JAY. The latter moved strongly in the last eighth and got to the winner in the final twenty yards, then seemed to falter. BLUE FAY raced evenly and finished fairly well. PERFECT MISTER was never far from the pace, and coming strongly through the middle of the track in the stretch, passed PAR BOY and held the others. SAINT NICHOLAS was badly outrun to the stretch and then raced very wide but finished strongly on the extreme outside. LONELY WINTER saved ground in the stretch but was not good enough. PAR BOY set the pace and went well to the last furlong, then began to weaken. CORDITE was never a contender in a dull-effort. MARTIAL SONG stopped badly after going six furlongs and was eased up in the stretch. Scratched— 79870 Degree, 110. Overweight— Lonely Winter, 3 pounds. NINTH RACE SUBSTITUTE DECLARED OFF.
