MURPHY SPORTSMANS PARK, Cicero, 111., May 11. — The 18-day spring meeting at Sportsmans Park, five days of which were sponsored by the Chicago American Benefit Fund and 13 days the regular National Jockey Club session, comes to a close Saturday. The session has been plagued by bad weather, which left the new five-eighths mile racing course with an "off" track for 15 of the 17 days that have been held. However, the races over the muddy, sloppy and heavy strips have been good. ■The 0,000 Sportsmans Park Handicap, a miel and one-eighth feature, failed to fill and has been cancelled. However, a nine-race program has been arranged, with post time for the first race 1:30. High Color Purse in Feature Spot A full field of 10 horses has been entered in the featured seventh race, the High Color Purse, for ,500 over the six and one-half furlongs distance. / Topping the field is Joseph J. Lombar-dos Dream Pattern, a two and one-half lengths winner in her latest effort on May 2 when she defeated Dont Move at six furlongs. Opposing the four-year-old filly are W. J. Saunders Judge Browdee, Charles Browns Blue Dare, Salvino Farms Uncle Sugar, Mrs. La Verne Karas Atta-var, Sahara Ranchs Irish Cheer, William S. Millers Sir Rupert, Joe M. Nickls Tonight, Sunny Blue Farms Revetment, and Diamond Ned, owned by William Hal Bishop. Another recent winner at the meeting in Saturdays feature is Judge Continued on Page Fira Sportsmans Closing Feature Lures Field of Ten Sprinters Continued from Page Ont Browdee, winner over Miss Ada in a six-furlong event last Saturday. On the two Saturdays of the meeting thus far, rain and cold greeted the fans, but despite these conditions both the mu-tuel play and attendance held up rather well. With the weatherman promising clear skies and a warm temperature, it is expected that some 20,000 fans-will be on hand for Saturdays program.
