Under the allowance terms of the five furlongs Downs fixture, Exchange Stables Jet Sub and Buddah Stables All Speed are the high weights at 122 pounds, spotting their six rivals five pounds each. The juvenile dash, always one of the highlight events at Downs spring meetings, attracted a small but select field. Other than All Speed and Jet Sub, David Fergusons Bonjo, Mrs. John M. Branhams Implement, Clarence Hartwicks Culpeper, and Mrs. C. A. Copes Commodore Curt are expected to start. Also Moss and Nolans Dixie Doge and the Reverie Knoll Farms Side Wheel. Riding Assignments for Race Jockey Douglas Dodson has calls for his saddle service on the Detroit-owned Bonjo and Dixie Doge. Darrell Madden is engaged for Implement and William McKinley Cook will handle Culpeper. Johnny Heckmann is to ride Side Wheel, Jimmy Bidwell will be at the reins on All Speed, and Robert Lee Baird, currently the Downs leading rider, will have the mount on Jet Sub. No reins-man had been named late today for Commodore Curt. The Quickstep is to bring out 10 top line sprinters, representing eight separate interests, while the Hyperion matches a half dozen second-year runners from five different stables. Scrutinized, Buddah Stables Third Degree-sired gelding, recent winner of the 0,000 Churchill Downs Handicap, willgo to the post in the Quickstep with the top impost of 122 pounds. He will be ridden by jockey William Cook, who piloted him so capably last week in the Downs stakes. Scrutinized is to have a useful stable companion for the Quickstep in the speedy Goldnose, 107 pounds. T. Alie Grissom, Detroit owner, also will be represented in the Quickstep by a duo. The stakes-winning filly Tonsina gets in with 117 pounds while her less illustrious running mate, Betsy T. is pegged at 109 pounds. In the absence of Larry Gilligan, filling a Saturday stakes engagement at Tanforan, jockey Baird may handle one of the Grissom hopefuls in the sprint. H. H. Prices Brownie Lady, 105, Mrs. V. E. Smiths Lori-Jane, 109, Hasty House Farms Alspal, 104, and Slavin Brothers Whirling Blues, 100 pounds, are others scheduled to go to, the post in the Quickstep. Also John Stelles Tile King, 114, and Mrs. Elizabeth Mucklers Lord Henry, a recent visitor to the local winners ring, 114 pounds. The Hyperion, spotted fifth on the nine-event half-holiday bill, will find Mr. and Mrs. John Zitniks Manassas, a good class victor at the meeting, clashing with Hasty House Farms Kentucky Derby colt, Black Emperor, and the same units County Kil-dare. Eugene Constantin Jr.s Roman Fan, Harvey Fruehaufs Fleet Peet, and Bern-burgoo, from the Holtsinger and Mcllvain barn, completes the Hyperion probable starting band. Racing secretary-handicapper Allan Lavin and the members of his staff arranged several top supporting offerings and excellent sport appears in store for Blue Grass State racing followers.
