King Be be Heads Sextet Seeking Illinois Handicap , Rendleman Runner Carries 119 in Fairmount Park Six-Furlong Race By j. jThahn "FAIRMOUNT PARK,, Collinsville, 111., May 11. — The Illinois Handicap, a six-furlong dash for three-year-olds and upward and to be used as the sixth race is the main attraction here Saturday night. Half a dozen entries passed "through the entry box this morning and heading the small field is H. H. Rendlemans King Bebe, an Illinois-bred son-of Prince Sador andwinner of the Inaugural Handicap. Expected to go postward against the star of the Rendleman stable are Mr. and Mrs. G. B. *Halmans Black Bantam, Donal Schmidts Speed Wrinkle, Harold W. Ostles Collinsville-bred Bright Imp, G. S. Benes Alcova and Clynton, representative of the Red Diamond stable. In the estimation of racing secretary John J. Klucina, King Bebe is the best of the field and he has assigned the son of Prince Sador 119 pounds, three more than he carried in the Inaugural when he got up in the last strides to garner a heck decision over All Tilly. The Illinois-bred gelding was one of the most consistent runners in this area last season while his opposition is not quite as stiff as the field he defeated in the Inaugural. The way the others are weighted the contest should develop into an interesting race. Black Bantam, beaten about a dozen lengths in the Inaugural, and Speed Wrinkle, fourth in the same race, are evenly weighted at 112 pounds each. Since the Inaugural performanceT Speed Wrinkle- has been postward once and finished second to Hopeful Sam in an allowance race last Wednesday night after heading the old campaigner to the final sixteenth of that six-furlong dash. Black Bantam has been vacationing since that race and has shown some excellent morning trials and should the course be muddy or sloppy for the running of tomorrows headliner could make it interesting for King Bebe and the others. Clynon and Bright Imp are in at 110 apiece while Alcova is the lightweight of the six with 109 pounds. Clynon gave a smashing performance the third night of. the meeting when he dropped a head decision to All-Tilly, and should he give as good an account of him-* self tomorrow could also make it tough for the favored ones. Clynon came back Wednesday night when Speed Wrinkle finished second but he had some trouble in that engagement and after being up on the pace during the early running was knocked but of it and quit after the interference, finishing last in an eight-horse race. Alcova has not given his best but should he have on his best running shoes is capable of making each post a winning one, while Bright Imp, who has been scratched twice at the meeting would do his best over a racing strip other than fast. j: |
