► — Dozen to Contest Riggs Over Grass Oi/r Dance Topweight at 118 Meets Argentine Patotero in 1,900 Pimlico Feature i By PALMER HEAGERTY PIMLICO, Baltimore, Md., May 11. — Turf racing, in comparative infancy at this Maryland Jockey Club course, is elevated to the featured position Saturday afternoon with the presentation of the 0,000 added Riggs Handicap over the exacting mile and one-half distance. With a dozen overnight entrants, the grass fixture will gross 1,900, with the owner of the winner taking down a net purse of ,275. The Riggs probably will develop several starters in the forthcoming 5,000 added Dixie Handicap, also contested over the grass, but at the shorter distance of a mile and three furlongs. Highweight starter in the Riggs under 118 pounds will be Cedar Farms Our Dance, who is being asked to concede two pounds to Joe F. Siccardis Patotero, foreign-bred seven-year-old making his initial-appearance in this country. Patoteros impost package of 116 pounds places him a single pound over North Downs Farms Ocean Lane, who gets in under 115 pounds. Next in line come C. Mahlon Klines Kaster, Gee M. Cohens Chuck Thompson and Mrs. L. K. Donovans Rock Cottage, each of whom has been assigned 113 pounds by racing secretary J. Fred Colwill. At 110 pounds is Kennedy-Veale Stables Marked Game, followed by M. Tyson Gilpins Arson at 109 pounds. Others entered are Harry N. Eads Black Bahram, 108; Mrs. J. R H Tlourons Le Page II., 107; Beacon Hill Farms Sun Ruler It and Robert P. Trices Baroda Boy, 104 pounds. Our Dance Exterminator Winner Our Dance accounted for the Exterminator over the local grass course last fall and also was second behind Traffic Judge in the Ventnor Stakes over the Atlantic City grass. *At Laurel, Mr. and Mrs. John Bromleys Racer won in 1:43%, then was third behind Ocean Lane and Kaster in record-equalling time of 1:42 y5. As in that affair, Our Dance will be handled by Joe Culmone. In winning his last start, Ocean Lane turned in a corking effort after having been beaten two noses in the Laurel Handicap over the main track two days previously. The Coastal Traffic colt has always shown a fondness for the grass and, under Willie Zakoor, is expected to give a good account of himself in the Riggs. Kaster has been second in each of his two starts this season, which is no novelty for the Unbreakable seven-year-old. In a busy 25 -race campaign last year during which he earned 2,985, he failed to win a race of importance, but was second in the Bougainvillea, Dixie, Riggs, Atlantic City and Turf Cup runnings, as well as on five other occasions. Augie Catalano will do the Tiding. Patotero is an unknown quality in this country, but is from the stable which last year brought Prendase to this country to finish second to El Chama in Laurels Washington, D. C.-International. Patotero is m the hands of Lester G. "Buster" Bed-well and will be ridden by Nick Shuk. Chuck Thompson was second in last year s Chesapeake as a three-year-old but has failed to display such form this season! He is without a victory in five starts thus S-a£n« inuhl£lasfc appearance at Garden btate was beaten eight lengths in lik ma race won by Helianthus.
