LA TURBIE quickly overcame interference at the start to gain a striking position through the initial quarter mile, came to the outside to wear down NEALS BOY in midstretch and was drawing out at the end. The latter engaged FOUR FORKS early, put that one away before going a half mile and, while succumbing readily to the winner, was clearly best of the others. YANKEE DO broke sharply to the inside and could not seriously threaten. SLOW PAY was used up early in vying. FOUR FORKS showed some early foot and stopped. MR. ABLE LADD broke alertly but sharply to the inside, was straightened av/ay to race along with WOLVERINE for a trifle over a half mile where he gained a narrow advantage under pressure and just lasted in a long drive. ABLE LADD survived a stewards inquiry for possible interference with the place and show horse at the start. WOLVERINE had his -speed, saved ground and narrowly missed. ASKING had no apparent mishap in an even effort. QUEENSWARE was never a serious factor. AURIESVILLE and ALWAYS MOVIN were shuffled back at the start. RICE BIRD could not keep up. MENODOG was void of early speed, moved up steadily along the outisde after going a half mile and wore down AVENEG in midstretch. The latter forced the early pace while in hand, displaced DIOGENES for the lead soon after going a half mile and, in a. long drive, held on gamely. DIOGENES tired from his early efforts. SOONER STATE passed only tiring horses. PALSY had speed for a half mile and stopped badly. RALLY HILL broke sluggishly and appeared unwilling to extend himself. The latter engaged MISS QUESTUARY from the outside early, put that one away soon after going a quarter mile, drew .clear while saving ground and, while unable to handle the winner, was easily best of the others. BETTER GOODS followed in closest pursuit of the early apcemakerr wore down that one with a rush after going five-eighths, drew clear and, in an all out drive, was able to stall off MY NIGHT OUT. The latter, much closer up than usual, came out after going a half mile to move up steadily on the leaders and was slowly getting to the winner at the end. TRIP LIGHTLY broke . alertly and dropped back steadily. STAROVER had all his speed, saved ground and gave way badly in the last quarter mile. BLACK HOMBURG was always far back.
