Patrick F. McAuliffe, Father Of Racing Official, Succumbs Patrick P. McAuliffe, the father of Robert P. McAuliffe, racing secretary at Sportsmans Park and currently serving as a steward at the Hazel Park meeting, died Saturday morning. Mr. McAuliffe suffered a stroke on June 9 and had been confined to the hospital ever since. He had been a steeplechase rider in his younger days and for the past several years was employed in the jockeys room at several Chicago tracks. At one time he was associated with the late John Cella in the operation of Oaklawn Park, at Hot Springs, Ark. Surviving in addition to Robert, is another son, Thomas E., three grandsons and five great-grandchildren. The body is at the P. M. Smith Funeral Home, 17 W. Madison Street., Oak Park, 111. Funeral services were not completed at a late hour on Saturday.
