PRINCESS TURIA, under steadying restraint while with the pace, was roused sharply to attain a clear lead at the furlong pole and just lasted over ATTICA. The latter lacked .early speed, was slow to respond when roused but closed with a rush and just missed. NASRINA held a menacing position and failed to respond sufficiently, as did MANOTICK. TOURNURE closed well, when able to secure racing room. RARE TREAT made up considerable ground. WHITE ORCHID was crowded along the inside on the first turn, moved menacingly on the final turn and weakened. LITTLE PACHE failed to attain prominence. AMORET was rallying when she moved into close quarters in the midstretch and was taken up. KINGS MISTAKE was taken up entering the stretch. GAY WARBLER set the pace for more than six furlongs and then faltered. JANE GESS and SORCERESS were through early. The stewards made an inquiry into the early stretch crowding but took no action.
