Award Contract to Build New Oaklawn Clubhouse Double-Deck Structure Will Give Track an Additional 2,000 Seats HOT SPRINGS, Ark., May 1.— Dick-mann-Pickens-Bond Construction Company of Little Rock, has been awarded the general contract for construction of the new club house at Oaklawn Park. Announcement of the award was made this week by J. Sweeney Grant, track general manager. The same company built the grandstand addition five years ago. The amount of the i low bid submitted by the firm was not disclosed. Actual construction of the double-deck structure is scheduled to start next Monday. Dismantling of the old wooden paddock and club house, which was erected more than 50 years ago, will be finished this week. The new brick, steel and native stone building will give Oaklawn an additional, 2,000 seats. The structure will also contain a "depressed" paddock, general executive offices, offices for the racing secretary, stewards and racing commission, first aid room, jockey room, a restaurant and two mutuel departments, Mark Linenthal, head of the engineering firm of Linenthal and Becker, Boston, Mass.. designers of the project, supervised the opening of the bids.
