Ascot Maintenance Head Is Heart Attack Victim Leonard Utterback Dies on 58th Birthday; Four Decades in Sport ASCOT PARK, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, May 1. — Leonard Utterback, track superintendent at Ascot Park for more than ten years and with a racing background dating back to the early 20s, died here early Thursday on his 58th birthday. Utterback suffered a heart attack while supervising early morning operations and died en route to a local hospital. Son of a "race-tracker," Utterbacks life has been continuously spent in the sport. His association with Ascot began in 1938 when he came here as a valet. He allotted stalls and was assistant track superintendent through 1947, when, he assumed the position he held at his death. Utterback is survived by his widow, Josephine, his constant companion over the-years at Ascot, whaassisted him in the year-around caretaking operation here: his mother, two sisters and two brothers, all of the Washington, D. C. area. Funeral services for Utterback will be held Saturday night at 8:30 pjn. at the Cox Funeral Home in Akron. Burial will be at Grove City, Ohio.
