GLOWING COAL forced the pace under good handling, disposedof ELANAC in the stretch and withstood PELORIA. The latter, away quickly, made up ground fast in the, opening eighth, lost ground thereafter and was wearing the winner down at the end ELANAC sprinted into, a good, lead in the opening quarter, gave way when challenged and held on. well. HOPE LORING, a strong factor from the beginning and in close quarters, reached the lead in the final eighth, failed to withstand the winner, but held on well., ZEVSON worked his way forward steadily, saved ground in the stretch and finished strongly. CHINESE INDIAN, away well and hustled into a long lead during the run to the stretch, quit under pressure. BLUE CAT raced wide. MARITTON showed little. MANNIE quit. GOOD AIM was outrun.
